Dr. Phil Skandaliaris, D.C. of Spine and Joint Center in Tarpon

Dr. Phil Skandaliaris, D.C.

Dr. Phil Skandaliaris completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida, completing his degree in Biomedical science and minored in public health and physics. Dr. Phil first became interested in chiropractic after suffering multiple injuries and surgeries from playing high school and college football. Dr. Phil was tired of just being prescribed medications for his pain instead of doctors trying to find the cause. After a few weeks of chiropractic care, his pain subsided, and decided this is what he needed to do. Dr. Phil studied chiropractic at Life University where he excelled while also taking post graduate studies. He did further study in SOT, Applied Kinesiology, Neurology at the Carrick Institute, Cox Flexion Distraction, McKenzie Institute, and Thompson technique. Additionally, his clinical experience was furthered when he was part of ChiroMissions, where he went abroad to the Dominican Republic to serve the under-privileged. Dr. Phil has always loved being a part of sports and has served as the team physician for Tarpon Springs High school since 2013.

In his free time Dr. Phil is an avid golfer and fisherman. He loves to spend time with his family and is also apart of numerous local organizations such as Rotary, AHEPA, St. Greek Orthodox Church, and Epiphany Committee.

FAQs

Doctors of chiropractic treat many different types of problems but mainly focus on those conditions that affect your muscles, joints, and nerves. Problems such as low back pain, neck pain, headaches, pain in your arm and legs, carpal tunnel syndrome, and whiplash injuries are a few examples of what we treat effectively.

Chiropractic adjustments are safe, gentle, and effective movement of your joints by the chiropractors hands or and adjusting tool and performed for the purpose of restoring normal position and movement to those joints. Once the spine is in line and has no irritation on the nerves or spinal cord, the body has the ability to be strong again and heal properly.

The noise you hear is similar to when cracking your knuckles. When and adjustment is made, the gases that are present in the adjusted joint are released. When gases are released, you hear a familiar popping sound. It is nothing to be concerned about and not harmful at all.

X-Rays are taken for your own safety. Other problems can appear on x-rays making them important for the chiropractors to be aware of. X-Rays offer the best possible results for care and can help with developing a right program for you.
